Stuff I Do

Back in the university, while I studied Tourism I worked in a Tourist Information Bureau for the Bahia Tourism Authority [pt], a branch of the Secretary of Tourism of the State Government of Bahia, in Brazil. Amid my attributions, I mainly helped tourists with local knowledge of the state of Bahia by providing them assistance with tourist services in Portuguese, English and basic French instructions.

I’ve also had a brief experience in an internship in a Travel Agency where I organized leisure and education tours in the state of Bahia, as well as managed clients’ accounts. From that internship, I had the highest rates in the company evaluation process for interns as well as in the College internship evaluation program.

I’m currently a voluntary author of Global Voices Online and Translation Editor of Global Voices in Portuguese. Global Voices is a community of more than 200 bloggers around the world who work together to bring you translations and reports from blogs and citizen media everywhere, with emphasis on voices that are not ordinarily heard in international mainstream media.

In September 2009, I started blogging for the Th!nk About It Competition: Climate Change, promoted by the European Journalism Centre. In the middle of the competition, I was chosen among 92 bloggers to form the team of three bloggers who attended the United Nations Climate Change Conference – COP15 in Copenhagen, Denmark, by bringing reports of the general discussions on the ground.

In addition to my translation work in Global Voices, I also act as a freelance English-Portuguese translator.

=)
